Don’t Automate Until You Know How To Do It Manually.

People have been talking about Marketing Automation a lot lately.

This is when you can work from anywhere with a laptop and an internet connection.

Some people have also been talking about automating their lives to make money.

And you have been wondering…

“How can I do that?”

The truth is, it’s not as complicated as you may think.

Marketing automation is YOU work hard(Oh no…I need to lift my finger?) in the beginning and SAVE you time and money later.

If you wants…

  • Save time and automate repetitive tasks
  • Spend more time doing what you love
  • Be able to work from anywhere in the world with a laptop and internet connection
  • Automate your marketing efforts so you can spend less time worrying about them

Let’s find out how you can do that! (YES!!! I want to live the laptop lifestyle)

What is Marketing Automation?

Marketing automation is the use of software and other technologies to automate the various tasks involved in marketing, from lead generation to customer segmentation and targeting. It allows brands to streamline their marketing strategies and improve efficiency, resulting in better customer engagement and higher returns on investment.

A Synergy Between Sales and Marketing Teams

Marketing automation system is like having your sales and marketing teams building your sales pipeline together.

To better explain what is marketing automation I need to bring you a step back and look at the stages of sales funnel(huh? is it related?).

A sales funnel helps you understand where your visitors are in the sales process.

And it also helps you see where they need a little push to get them across that line from visitor, to client.

Here is how it looks like:

  • Top of the funnel: Visitors
  • Middle of the funnel: Leads
  • Bottom of the funnel: Clients

When you look at this sales funnel.

You can see that there are different types of messages depending on where someone is in your sales process.

Higher up in the funnel, messages should be more general.

And as people get closer to making a purchase, they will be more interested in finding out fine details about your product or service.(Sales! Finally, we are talking.)

Next, we will look at the sales funnel stages(there is more???):

Sales funnel stages is made up of 4 stages

  • Awareness Stage: People who are just becoming aware of your product, service or industry
  • Interest Stage: People who have become interested in your product, service or industry and want to learn more before they make a purchase decision.
  • Desire Stage: People in this phase will start to think about how your offer can help them.
  • Action Stage: They have decided that your offer is the best solution for them and they want to purchase from you now.

So what does these have to do with marketing automation?

Marketing automation helps you manage the customer journey through these stages in a sales funnel.

Now you can automate your marketing efforts to follow people(customers) through these stages in the sales process.

And when it comes time for them to buy, you can be there ready with a solution.

So How Would You Do That? (I’m glad you asked…)

How Does Marketing Automation Work?

Imagine this:

You were listening to Joe Rogan Podcast and you got so focused on the podcast that you didn’t notice a new email come into your inbox.

When you done you check your email and it says:

“Congratulations, you’ve made a new sale!”

This is one of the best feelings ever!

Top of the world kind of felling(wait, am i?)

Then you realize…

“Wait…I didn’t make a sale. This is marketing automation.”

Marketing Automation lets people subscribe to your newsletter, blog posts(That’s me!), YouTube videos and tweets.

You know that all these things are important to building trust with your audience.

And you don’t want to be spending time making them manually one-by-one.

So, marketing automation helps you do that automatically by creating a custom workflow for each audience.

Whenever someone subscribes, you can have it automatically send them an email welcoming them to your list.

You can also automate sending that person blog posts or other content they are interested in.

And when the time is right, you can send out a special offer(sales!!) which will help move people closer to making a purchase.

And it’s not just emails you can automate, you can also use your marketing automation workflow to set up social media campaigns and target ads.

With marketing automation you will be able to spend more time finding new customers and less time doing the work yourself!

How To Get Started With Marketing Automation

So now you know what it is and how it works.

The next question would be how to use this in your business?

Ask yourself:

How can I make sure that people are interested in my products or services?

How can I send the right message to the right people at the right time?

Answering these questions will help you get started with marketing automation.

Good!

Now you know what they need, let’s create something for them.

Lead Generation System

If you still remember at the TOFU(Top of the funnel) it is the visitors to your site.

But they are not a leads until they subscribe to your email list.

So, you can use lead generation system on your website.

Nowadays, people don’t just subscribe into any mailing list on their own.

Because they don’t know you yet (I don’t trust you with my email)

They need some incentive like discounts on your product or something valuable to get them subscribe.

Here’s a list of IDEAS for you to create your lead magnet(Your Ethical Bribe):

  • eBook, checklist or pdf report with actionable next steps
  • Video training series (Make sure it’s relevant to your product)
  • Q&A session with you and/or your team(video and/or podcast)
  • Swipe file of headlines, templates and other ideas
  • Case Studies
  • Interviews
  • and much much more…

Pro Tip: Keep in short and actionable

Let’s have a look at how your lead generation looks like:

  • Free Download: Your customer give you their email address to download it(Hooray, a new lead!)
  • Conditions: You add these leads into a personalized email drip campaign to gradually warm up your leads. (Cold to warm leads)

How does a personalized email drip campaign looks like?

Marketing Automation Workflow
Value, Value, Value(Webinar)

Here’s how it looks like:

  • Free Download: Make sure you send what they request for fast!
  • 1 Day Later: Provide value
  • 2 Days Later: Provide value(again?)
  • 3 Days Later: Webinar(AHA!)

Note 1: This is how you turn a cold leads to warms leads(Lead Nurturing)

Note 2: Warms leads turns to buyers thru webinar

Once the leads turn into buyers now you can import them into your CRM(Customer Relationship Management).

Congratulations!

Now you just landed a new customers!(yay!)

Does marketing automation ends here???

NOPE…

Marketing automation has way more to offer!

Marketing automation helps you turn one time customers into long-term customers(how?)

  • Upselling: You can use email automation to offer them a “Premium” programs of services.
  • Cross-Selling: You can offer them something relevant to their previous purchase.
  • Cycle-Based Selling: You can offer them a once a year event or summit.

Pro Tip: Combine all these together!

I’m sure you’re sitting on a gold mine!

All you need to do is to start digging it.
